Last February, we had an amazing family day on one of the floating cottages in Carmen, Agusan del Sur.

The night before, we celebrated my Uncle’s birthday and on the same night, we had a fun gender reveal.

My sister and cousins decided on the same day that it would be fun to have a gender reveal because we are almost a complete family. They prepared the balloons for props. It was a fun, emotional, and exciting night for all of us.

The next day, we went to this floating cottage located an hour away from Butuan City.

This part of Carmen has a lot of floating cottages available for rent.

Our Experience

From Butuan City, we went out around 7:30 in the morning. We bought some food on the way then we headed straight to Carmen. It was less than an hour away so if you’re from Butuan City, this is a perfect option for your quick getaway with friends and family.

The weather was really good during our visit.

My Aunt said the last time they visited there were big waves. She said, if the weather is not good, that is exciting for teenagers or young adults but not for older people who will get sea sickness easily.

Luckily, we picked the perfect day (even without checking the weather before going). My Lola was a bit afraid but she survived the whole experience though. Hahaha. She was just sitting while watching us swimming and enjoying the water.

We had kids on the cottage as well, they were really excited and had so much fun the entire day. Even the adults had fun too!

Half a day on the floating cottage is enough to enjoy the view and the sea.
