A Quick Travel Guide to Cagwait White Beach
Cagwait White Beach is a locals’ favorite place in Surigao del Sur. It has fine white sands and a lovely beach where families and friends can enjoy all together.
Cagwait White Beach is located in Cagwait, Surigao del Sur, around 30 kilometers from Tandag City.
It is also famous because of its Kaliguan festival which is held every last week of June, yearly enjoyment to pay tribute to St. John the Baptist. During the festival, they have a Search for Perlas ng Kaliguan Pageant and other shoreline fun activities.

How to get to Cagwait?
From Tandag City
- Go to Tandag bus terminal and take buses bound for Butuan or Davao.
- Another option is to take a jeepney ride to Aras-asan, Cagwait, and a travel time of an hour. Tell the driver to drop you off at Cagwait Beach junction. From the junction, take a habal-habal or tricycle to Cagwait beach
Where to Stay in Cagwait White Beach?
There are a few resorts and accommodations around the area that are not available online. I advise you to ask when you are in Cagwait white beach to be sure.
One of the common accommodations is the LGU Cagwait beach resort which is also affordable.
Ever since when I was young, we always go to Cagwait white beach to celebrate birthdays and weddings, and we even go here without any occasions at all. Cagwait white beach is a perfect place to enjoy the sand and the beach without going too far from our hometown, Tandag.
We got here last September, after our mandatory quarantine, It was a fun and quick dip but it was all worth it.

Now I badly miss the sea breeze from the beach. I’m glad that more and more businesses are getting back to the normal world we used to have. Nature is definitely something that I’d love to explore.

Thanks for the info, Ron! Badly need to go to the beach. Somehow the lockdown is now back in the city. This is a very interesting place to visit. Soon in God’s grace, I can travel again!

Since you wrote about beach, now I want to go to the beach. I just hope it’s safe to be outside and enjoy nature. I love going to the beach. I miss Bantayan Island or even the resorts in Mactan. I used to have a planned visit to Siargao but it was canceled because of the pandemic. I haven’t been to Surigao and seeing the photos on your article, I just wish I can also have the chance to visit the place someday.
